Visiting the Uffizi: tickets, arrival and an unhurried morning

Give the Uffizi a substantial part of a day, choose your ticket around the collection you want to see, and leave space for arrival and security. A museum booking works best when the rest of Florence can wait.

A comfortable first plan

Keep a morning or afternoon for the Uffizi, including arrival and a break afterwards. Choose the collection and ticket first; add another museum only if it is something you actively want to visit.

The museum’s official fare table separates single admission, Uffizi plus Vasari Corridor, and multi-museum products. It also distinguishes advance purchases from tickets bought on the day. Compare the category you qualify for and the full payable amount, not a headline price from an older travel article.

If the Corridor is part of your booking, read its official access rules. Its meeting point is inside the Uffizi and has a separate appointment. Allow time to reach it; arriving at the museum door at the Corridor time is not the same thing.

Start at the museum’s own website

The official Uffizi visit page identifies tickets.uffizi.it as its online ticket office. Use that route when booking directly. A website with “Uffizi” in its name may instead be an independent information site or reseller.

Read the confirmation for the named ticket, entry slot, documents and any collection or meeting instructions. The museum introduced digital QR tickets for official online purchases in 2024, as described in its digital ticket announcement. Do not follow an old instruction to queue for a paper ticket if your current booking tells you otherwise.

For a guided visit or a different booking option, compare Uffizi options on Tiqets. Check whether the product includes a live guide, audio guide or admission alone, along with the language and cancellation terms. Keep the official option in the comparison.

Separate train arrival from museum entry

If arriving at Firenze Santa Maria Novella, allow time to find the exit, deal with bags and walk through the centre to the Uffizi. Avoid booking an entry slot immediately after your train’s scheduled arrival. That leaves no room for a delay, a wrong turn or the practical needs of your group.

Our Firenze SMN photo guide helps you recognise the station spaces. Use the entrance location in your booking for the final approach to the museum. For a more relaxed itinerary, visit during the Florence stay in Florence → Lucca → Pisa or Rome → Florence → Venice, rather than between two tightly timed trains.

Choose a few priorities instead of racing through every room

The Uffizi’s official museum page describes its painting and sculpture collections and currently lists regular opening from Tuesday to Sunday, with Mondays closed. Check special openings and notices for your date before arranging the rest of your Florence stay.

Our suggestion is to select a few artists or works that interest you, then leave time to notice what is between them. A full morning is a planning allowance, not an official visit duration or a promise that you will see everything. Groups with children or limited stamina may prefer a shorter, focused visit.

Keep the next part of the day flexible: a meal, a riverside walk or a return to your accommodation can work better than another immediate reservation. If a particular artwork is the reason for your visit, check the museum’s current notices about works temporarily off display.

A booked time still leaves practical steps at entry

The visitor rules require bags, backpacks, umbrellas and other large objects to be left in the free cloakroom. They also describe security checks and single-entry tickets. Allow for those steps, keep your ticket throughout the visit and plan food breaks around the entry rules.

The museum cloakroom may be all you need during a visit; an outside storage booking is not automatically necessary. If you need to leave luggage before or after museum hours, compare your accommodation’s arrangements with our Florence luggage-storage options. Include collection in the return walk to the station.

Your final check

  • The museum is open on your chosen date.
  • The ticket covers the collection and any extra visit you want.
  • You have the confirmation, entry instructions and required documents ready.
  • Your train, bag drop and return plan leave room around the visit.
