Compare the whole collection journey

Begin with your host. Keeping bags at the property can be convenient when it lies on your route back to the station. Confirm the charge, staffed collection hours and how you regain access after checkout. A self-check-in apartment may have no storage or reception.

Kipoint lists official station deposits at Roma Termini, Firenze Santa Maria Novella, Venezia Santa Lucia and Venezia Mestre. Its classic service uses an hourly tariff; follow the provider’s booking link for current details.

Radical Storage offers bookable storage with local partner businesses. A listing described as near a station is not necessarily inside it. Compare the walk and total checkout price with the station option; the most convenient choice depends on your day.

02 / Rome

Use the station printed on your ticket

If leaving from Roma Termini, compare keeping bags at your hotel with storage at or near Termini. Trace the station entrance you will use: collecting a bag on the other side of a large station adds another walk before you reach the departure board.

If your train departs from Roma Tiburtina, plan around Tiburtina. Leaving bags at Termini just because you arrived there can create an unnecessary return journey. For a final museum visit, check its bag rules before deciding to carry your suitcase there.

Compare two complete plans: hotel → final outing → hotel → train, and hotel → storage → final outing → storage → train. Count the journeys with bags as well as the price.

03 / Florence

Finish on the useful side of the city

For a departure from Firenze Santa Maria Novella, compare storage near the station with returning to your accommodation. If staying across the Arno and spending your final afternoon near the station, returning across the river for bags may be the longest part of the collection plan.

A museum cloakroom needs its own check. The Uffizi visitor rules require bags and other large items to be left in the cloakroom. Confirm that your particular suitcase is accepted and when it must be collected. Do not assume a cloakroom can hold bags while you spend the rest of the day elsewhere.

Leave space between a timed museum visit and your train for collecting bags and walking to the platform. Use the exact station name; Florence has more than one railway station.

04 / Venice

Count bridges, not just metres

For a train from Venezia Santa Lucia, a storage point near the station can let you explore without carrying bags back through the historic city. Check the walking route to the actual door: a nearby map pin can be across a canal with a bridge between you.

Venezia Mestre is on the mainland. If your bags are at a Mestre hotel and you visit historic Venice after checkout, include the return connection and hotel collection in your departure plan. Our guide to choosing a base explains the trade-offs between the two areas.

If steps are a constraint, investigate the municipality’s Accessible Venice map and confirm access with the storage provider. The Doge’s Palace visitor information also requires bulky luggage to be left elsewhere before arrival; its cloakroom is not a fallback for your suitcase.

05 / Before paying

Check the location for both visits

Radical Storage locations have their own opening hours, and the exact address is provided after booking. Check the listing for your drop-off and collection dates, then save the confirmation and route to the door. A city page is a starting point for comparison, not a reservation at a particular location.

• Both visits fit the opening periods, including any break during the day.
• The booking covers the correct dates and number of items.
• The provider accepts your bag type and any unusual item you plan to leave.
• You have compared the full amount, including any fees or selected extras.
• You understand the cancellation deadline and what happens if collection is delayed.

Review the provider’s current storage terms before paying. Keep your ticket, passport or ID, medication, phone and other essentials with you. Save the booking proof and contact details somewhere you can access during the day.

06 / Leave time to collect

Work backwards from the train

Choose when you want to be at the station, then subtract the journey from storage and time to retrieve the bags. Finally, subtract the journey from your last activity to the storage point. If storage closes earlier, that closing time becomes the limit.
