Naples Airport to the city: station or port?

Naples Airport (NAP) is linked with Piazza Garibaldi and the port by Alibus. Choose the stop around the next part of the journey: Napoli Centrale for trains, the port for ferries and Municipio, or an authorised taxi when the complete door-to-door trip works better.

Naples Airport has no mainline railway station

For national trains, first reach Napoli Centrale at Piazza Garibaldi. For a ferry or a stay near Municipio, the port stops may be more useful. Compare the complete journey to your actual address.

Alibus serves the station and the port

The airport’s official bus page identifies Alibus as the direct connection between Naples Airport, Piazza Garibaldi at the central station and the port. It also lists the current stops and links to live departures. Use that list on the travel date because stop arrangements and traffic conditions can change.

Buy the product named for Alibus through an official channel and keep the ticket instructions available. The operator’s Alibus service page explains the accepted sales channels and current service notices. A headline journey time is an estimate, so leave a margin before a fixed train or ferry.

Piazza Garibaldi is the stop for Napoli Centrale

Choose Piazza Garibaldi when the next leg uses Napoli Centrale. After the bus, follow the signs for the railway station and confirm the live platform. Our Napoli Centrale photo guide explains the main hall, platforms and the relationship between the station and Piazza Garibaldi.

A flight arrival and an independently booked train are not a protected connection. Allow for immigration where applicable, baggage delivery, the bus wait, road traffic and the walk into the station. Flexible onward travel can be worth more than a tight headline itinerary.

Use a port stop only after identifying the ferry terminal

Naples has more than one maritime departure area. The airport page currently lists port stops including Porta di Massa and the Molo Angioino/Beverello area. Check the operator’s ticket for the exact pier before deciding where to leave Alibus; “Naples port” is not a sufficiently precise destination.

If the port is only near the accommodation, map the final walk as carefully as the bus ride. If a ferry is the fixed event, work backwards from its check-in requirement and keep a later alternative for the city stay rather than risking a missed sailing.

An authorised taxi can simplify the final leg

The airport’s official taxi information describes the rank outside arrivals and predetermined fares for specified routes. Confirm that the address falls within the named destination and ask for the applicable fare before departure. Do not assume that a rate for one central zone covers every hotel or pier.

For travel after arrival, use the Naples public transport guide to separate city metro, funiculars and regional rail. If bags must be stored before check-in, compare the options in our Italy luggage-storage guide.

Save these details before travelling

  • The booking says NAP and the accommodation address is saved.
  • I chose Piazza Garibaldi or a named port stop for a reason.
  • I checked the live Alibus information for the travel date.
  • The train, ferry or check-in margin includes baggage and traffic.
  • I have an authorised taxi fallback for a disrupted arrival.
