MXP is Malpensa, LIN is Linate and BGY is Milan Bergamo Airport at Orio al Serio. Save the code, terminal and accommodation address before choosing a transfer.

“Milan city centre” is not one stop. Identify the station or metro interchange that shortens the final journey with bags. For an onward train, confirm its departure station instead of assuming it leaves from Milano Centrale.
02 / Malpensa airport
Choose the Malpensa Express branch before boarding
Malpensa Express serves airport Terminals 1 and 2 and has separate Milan lines. The operator’s official lines and timetable page distinguishes services to Milano Centrale and Milano Cadorna. Choose the line that fits the rest of the journey; the first train labelled “Milano” may not be the best one for you.
Cadorna can be useful for the historic centre and connections on the western side; Centrale can simplify many onward intercity journeys. Check intermediate stops as well, because another rail or metro interchange may be closer to your accommodation.
Confirm the terminal on both the flight and the journey result. The live Malpensa Express timetable is the place to check the current departure, not a static time copied into a travel article.
03 / Linate airport
Use M4 as part of the city network
Linate is connected to central Milan by the blue M4 metro line. ATM’s official M4 passenger information shows its city interchanges and points travellers to current timetables and accessibility status.
Choose the change by your final address. San Babila connects with M1; other M4 stops connect with parts of the rail and metro network. A direct ride to central Milan can still require a second metro, tram, bus or walk.
For a late arrival, check the service operating at the time you will actually leave the terminal. ATM lists night replacement buses when the metro is closed; do not assume the daytime rail pattern continues overnight.
04 / Milan Bergamo airport
Decide whether you need Milan or Bergamo first
Milan Bergamo Airport does not have a railway station at the terminal. Its official bus directory lists direct coach operators to Milano Centrale and the local ATB connection to Bergamo railway station. Check the named operator and stop on your ticket; the airport’s bus services are not one interchangeable route.
A direct Milan coach can be simplest for a Milan stay. The local bus to Bergamo station can make sense when Bergamo is your destination or when a rail journey from there fits better. Compare the complete chain and remember that a road transfer can be affected by traffic.
Do not book from the flight arrival time
Add passport control where applicable, baggage collection and the walk to the stop. Check what the operator allows if a delayed flight makes you miss the booked coach.
05 / Another train after arrival
Protect the connection that matters
A separately booked train is not automatically protected when a flight or airport transfer is late. Find a later usable train before choosing a fixed fare, and compare the cost of flexibility with the cost of losing the ticket.
