Start with the operator, not a platform number
“Bari Centrale” can refer to adjacent parts of a larger railway hub. Mainline trains, Ferrovie Appulo Lucane services and Ferrotramviaria airport trains do not all leave from the same set of platforms. Match the operator and station wording on your itinerary before following a platform sign.
Identify the operator area first
The official station overview describes a multi-level complex used by Trenitalia, Ferrovie del Sud Est, Ferrotramviaria and Ferrovie Appulo Lucane. Treat the operator name as part of the directions: it tells you which adjacent station area and which live information to use.
A ticket or journey result should provide enough information to identify the operator. If it does not, open the full journey details before reaching the station. Do not assume that a ticket for one network covers another.
Use the RFI station for mainline and many regional trains
For a departure shown on the RFI board, read Partenze and match the train number and time. The destination displayed may be beyond your stop. Wait for the current Binario assignment and check the board again if it changes.

RFI lists 18 passenger tracks at Bari Centrale and tells travellers in the station to follow its current audio and visual information. Use the official live departures board as a preview, then rely on the station displays and announcements when you travel.
Find the FAL departure for Matera
Journeys towards Altamura and Matera use Ferrovie Appulo Lucane information. The FAL terminal is adjacent to the mainline station, but it is a separate operating area. Follow signs for FAL rather than looking for the journey on an RFI platform board.

Check the current FAL timetables and fares page for your date. FAL publishes both railway and replacement-bus schedules on this corridor, so confirm the mode and exact departure point for the service you intend to use. Follow Ferrotramviaria signs for the airport railway
The airport rail connection uses Ferrotramviaria’s Bari Centrale station. The operator describes it as contiguous with the RFI station and connected by a pedestrian tunnel. Allow time to reach the correct level instead of treating an arrival at the complex as an immediate same-platform connection.

Search the official Ferrotramviaria airport planner for the exact date and direction. A mainline departure board is not the source for this service.
Use Piazza Aldo Moro for the city side
The historic main building faces Piazza Aldo Moro, on the city-centre side of the railway. Confirm the first part of the walk or local transport connection to your accommodation before leaving the station, especially if you need to return to a different operator area later.
The RFI accessibility page lists Sala Blu assistance, accessible toilets and visual and audible passenger information. It also warns that temporary lift outages and differences between platform and train height can affect access. Arrange assistance for the operator and journey you are actually taking.
